GARDUNHA MOUNTAIN RANGE - FUNDÃO
Set off to discover the municipality of Fundão and take the opportunity to get to know the Serra da Gardunha through 12 small footpaths that allow you to observe the flora and fauna of this magnificent place.
The Gardunha, with only 20 km long, rises to 1227 m of altitude. Some years ago its landscape was dominated by chestnut trees, still existing but in much smaller quantity, now dominates the area with the largest production of cherries, the already widely known Cherry of Fundão.
In the county you can visit the Historical Village of Castelo Novo, with a charter attributed by D.Sancho I in 1202 and was a county until 1835, and the beautiful village of Alpedrinha, where the famous festival "Os Chocalhos" takes place.
